When you exit the airport take 595 West. Follow the Florida Turnpike signs. Go South toward Miami. This is a toll road that does not accept money, please check with your rental car company as they now charge you for this service with a toll by plate system. The Florida Turnpike will take you to Florida City, which then connects and dead ends into U.S. 1. Take U.S. 1 to Grassy Key (about 1 ½ hours once you’re on US 1) We are at Mile Marker 57.5 just two miles after the Dolphin Research Center. On the left or ocean side of the road. It is a 55 MPH zone so pay attention after the Dolphin Center. We have a pink sign. If you see Curry Hammock State Park you just past us. It is a 2 ½ hour drive from the airport to the White Sands Inn.
From Miami International Airport:

From Key West International Airport:
When you exit the airport, turn left heading East or North towards Miami. Take U.S. 1 to Grassy Key (about 1 ¼ hours) We are at Mile Marker 57.5. You will go through Marathon, and it will look like you are leaving Marathon. The road goes to two lanes and the speed increases to 55MPH.
Continue for 3 more miles and we will be on your right side or ocean side of the road. Just one mile after the Curry Hammock State Park.
It is a 1 hour 15 minute drive from the airport to the White Sands Inn.
